The bidding process is now open for the contract to install and operate a marina with moorings for luxury and super-size yachts in Malaga's port. The site identified is at corner at the end of the Muelle Uno shopping centre near the Pompidou art gallery.

Interested investors have just under three months to send in their proposals. The winning bid will be awarded the licence to run the facility for up to 20 years.

Although it is up to each bidder to make its recommendations, it's expected that there will be up to 40 berths for boats between 20 and 100 metres in length. The length of contract will depend on the money being offered in the bid.

The total quayside available is 770 metres as well as nearby structures to provide support facilities.

According to the port authority, a lot of interest is expected. Almost all the berths will be reserved for craft moored full time, although ten per cent must be for passing vessels.
