Antequera town council has spent 120,000 euros on a new and improved tourist information office that opened its doors on Thursday last week, coinciding with World Tourism Day. The new premises are designed to absorb the increasing number of visitors to the town, which has tripled in seven years, among other reasons due to the attraction of the dolmens, declared a World Heritage Site in 2016.
In 2010 the town recorded 217,517 visitors, while in 2017 the figure had gone up to 632,242, leaving the previous small tourist office unable to cope with demand.
It is located on Calle Encarnación between Plaza de San Sebastián and the town museum.
The office is open every day of the year except 25 December and 1 and 6 January, all day until 7pm from Monday to Saturday and until 2pm on Sunday.
