A new dog beach in Torrox Costa officially opened last week, with around 200 canines and their owners making use of the facility on the same day.

The area covers a 300-metre stretch of beach near the mouth of the River Torrox and is the seventh beach of its kind along the Costa del Sol.

Mayor of Torrox, Óscar Medina, said that it had come about "following requests from residents and tourists".

As with similar beaches in the province, dogs must be controlled at all times and potentially dangerous dogs and those weighing more than 20 kilos must wear a muzzle.
