Strikes set to affect Ryanair passengers across four countries look set to go ahead after the airline rejected the demands of cabin crew during mediation talks on Tuesday.
The cabin crew, represented in Spain by the USO and Sitcpla unions, are calling for the airline to apply the conditions established in the labour laws in the countries in which the employees are based - Spain, Portugal, Italy and Belgium - rather than the Irish legislation.
According to Europa Press, negotiators were pessimistic even ahead of the meeting, but have not ruled out further negotiation right up until Saturday, the deadline for officially presenting warning of a strike which is set to affect Italy on 25 July and Spain, Portugal and Belgium on 25 and 26 July.
Irish pilots' strike
This is not the only industrial action planned by Ryanair staff. On Thursday, some 94 pilots based in Ireland went on strike, seeing 30 flights between Ireland and the UK cancelled and scores of others disrupted.
The Irish pilots' concerns relate to pay and working conditions including promotions and annual leave.
With regard to cancellations or delays, Ryanair are obliged by law to inform passengers of any disruption to their travels, offer alternative travel arrangements or give a full refund.
