Monthly data for the number of jobless registered at government unemployed centres in June in Malaga province showed a fall of 5,774 (3.9 per cent) in May, due mainly to contracting for the peak summer tourist season. This is the lowest total since 2008.
Meanwhile, the same data has shown that the number of people registered as paying social security contributions for benefits such as healthcare and pensions has gone up and reached 619,778, more than before the last financial crisis.
Unions have called for less temporary and more long-term contracts. The data excludes long-term unemployed who aren't registered.
