In a campaign to recognise celebrated writers and artists, Benalmádena town hall has honoured Pablo García Baena, a Cordoba poet who died earlier this year.

Baena had lived in Benalmádena Costa for many years and was inspired to write a poem about a large Ombú tree that he passed each day.

The poem, Ombú, has been inscribed onto a plaque that has recently been installed next to the tree in Avenida Antonio Machado.

The plaque is illustrated with an image of the poet.
