The Weekend Beach festival, which is celebrating its fifth anniversary this year, got under way on Wednesday night, with Malaga band, Danza Invisible, one of the most popular performances.

Before the event started organisers announced record ticket sales, with 35,000 sold compared to 33,000 in 2017.

It is expected that up to 40,000 'Weekers', festivalgoers, will attend on each of the four days, with a total of 130,000 people attending over the course of the event.

On the door, ticket sales started on Wednesday and organisers predicted that 95 per cent of all tickets would be sold by the weekend.

American rock band, The Offspring, headlined Thursday night, while the world-famous DJ, David Guetta, is expected to pull the biggest crowd when he performs tonight.
