  • The 30-metre bridge over the Güí river provides a continuous path from Torre del Mar to El Morche and more are planned from Torrox to Nerja

Local politicians including mayor of Torrox, Óscar Medina, along with Elías Bendodo, President of Malaga's provincial government; Diputación, officially opened a 30-metre coastal pathway over the Gúí river, connecting Torre del Mar and El Morche via a continuous 10-kilometre coastal pathway.

This is the first in a series of similar works planned for 2018. Diputación says that 31 of the 47 kilometres of coastline in the Axarquía will be accessible by foot and bicycle by the end of this year. Currently 25 kilometres are accessible.

The 200,000-euro Gúí river project was funded by Diputación, which has earmarked a further 700,000 euros for work to the Axarquía's coastline this year.

Other planned projects include a 45-metre wooden walkway over the Manzano stream in Torrox and a four-kilometre stretch will connect Torrox with neighbouring Nerja.
