  • The Torre del Mar centre marks its 25th year with a visit to the Italian capital

Lux Mundi Torre del Mar is beginning to prepare celebrations for its 25th anniversary. The doors of the Torre del Mar centre opened in September 1993 and to mark the occasion a trip to Rome is being organised for 1 to 5 October and is open to anyone who would like to go. The programme includes the option to attend the audience with the Pope for that week.

Further events, closer to home are planned and Gloria Uribe, who has led the Torre del Mar centre since it first opened, said that they are hoping to include a service of celebration at Malaga cathedral.

One of Gloria's wishes for this important milestone is for anyone who has used the centre over the 25 years to get in touch with the centre. “Lots of people we have met over the years have returned to their home country and we have lost touch with them. It would be wonderful if we could somehow get a message to those people so that they can be part of the celebrations,” Gloria explains. “For example, I helped a family following a traffic accident near the bus station in Nerja many years ago and I know the people went back to the UK. I have no way of tracing them,” she adds.
