The Mediterranean archaeological park, situated next to the Cantal and La Victoria caves in Rincón de la Victoria, is set to have restoration work carried out, according to the town's mayor, Francisco Salado.

The archaeological site, which first opened to the public fifteen years ago, has suffered considerable damage in recent years, including to prehistoric paintings at the entrance to one of the caves on the site, allegedly caused by squatters.

Work will include restoring the paintings in the La Victoria cave, some of which belong to the Neolithic period, as well as cleaning the area and tidying up the gardens in which much of the vegetation reflects typical plants that would have existed during prehistoric times.
