Estepona police animal shelter criticised for “deplorable” conditions

  • Emma Molina of the PSOE called the facilities "absolutely unhealthy"

Emma Molina, a PSOE councillor, visited the police shelter for abandoned animals in Estepona recently and criticised the conditions as “deplorable”.

She said the facilities where “absolutely unhealthy” and added that to put them right would not require any financial investment, but rather “it was a question of being sensitive” to the animals' needs.

However the town hall refused to accept her claims and reasoned that she had visited at a time “when one of the dogs in the shelter had destroyed a foam cushion” that formed part of its bedding and the conditions that day were not typical. They added that the area was cleaned up afterwards.
