DNA tests carried out on a young pitbull dog have solved the mystery of how a baby goat lost all four of its hooves in December 2017.

A resident of Benagalbón acquired the two-month-old goat as a pet for his two children. However, days later the man reported an incident in which the goat had lost all four of its hooves. At the time he said he believed the attack may have been carried out by people as “a satanic ritual” and that he found the events “lamentable.”

Tests were carried out on a plot of land which the goat shared with a young pitbull dog and on the dog's faeces and DNA revealing traces of goat hair and hooves.

An investigation is under way to determine whether the owner is guilty of failing to control a dangerous dog.
