The Seville firm Lorte SL has become involved in a new project in Malaga province involving the creation of a new wind farm in Sierra de Yeguas. It will be situated in an area known as El Puntal, next to the Sierra de los Caballos, which already has a wind farm built by the same company.

Jorge Loring, an engineer from Ge&Pe who is developing the necessary technology alongside Lotte, has said that the park will generate enough electricity to power 2,700 homes and will require a 15-million euro investment.

The construction of the park, which will have five turbines, will be separate to the existing park, which was built in 2010 and generates 26 megawatts of electricity, enough for 3,500 homes.

Loring has highlighted that the project is still awaiting the permission of local government, and is therefore reluctant to give any specific dates about the project.

The council has said that it will ensure that the project “is undertaken in due course, following procedure.”
