The promoter for the Museo Taurino (bullfighting museum) in Malaga is still refusing to vacate the building until a court order is issued. A year has now passed since the Diputación provincial government, the owner of the building on Plaza del Siglo, revoked the concession for the use of the premises due to unpaid bills.
It is estimated that the sum owed to the supramunicipal body is around 400,000 euros. This includes the cost of the contract, IBI land value tax payments and unpaid water and electricity bills.
Despite this, businessman Juan Barco intends to reopen the museum shortly after a period of closure to replenish the collection. Until a judge says otherwise, my intention is to carry on, he said.
For its part, the Diputación remains firm in its decision that once approved by a judge, we will reclaim the building, said Culture councillor, Víctor González.
The Diputación also intends to claim damages from Juan Barco.
