The British ambassador to Spain, Simon Manley, is to be given an award by the Malaga Diputación provincial authority in recognition of his work in strengthening relations between the United Kingdom, Malaga and the Costa del Sol.
President of the Diputación, Elías Bendodo, highlighted that this autumn Malaga will host the 30th annual Hispanic-British forum, drawing representatives from both countries' business and political communities to discuss bilateral relations.
The award will be given to Manley at a ceremony to be held in the village of Monda on 26 April, which is designated as Malaga Province Day. Each year the provincial authority chooses a different town or village to host the awards event.
Also among those to be awarded gold medals this year will be Mijas Olympic snowboard hero, Regino Hernández and the El Sol de Antequera newspaper.
