The company responsible for maintaining the sewerrage systems and drains in Marbella has carried out urgent repairs to piping in San Pedro following a burst that saw effluent being pumped out near a school.
Last weekend Hidralia, the company that has the licence from Marbella council to maintain sewerage services, dug up and urgently replaced 10 metres of piping near the María Teresa León school, on the edge of San Pedro towards the road to Ronda.
The burst was first reported to local councillors by parents at the school who had complained of a nauseating smell and faeces and wet wipes in the street.
A spokesperson for Hidralia, Carlos Corral, told SUR that that replacement piping was put in place last Sunday, 11 March, and that the company had been working on resurfacing the road and cleaning up over the past few days.
