President of the Junta de Andalucía, Susana Díaz, intends to meet with Interior minister, Juan Ignacio Zoido, in the coming days to thrash out measures to crack down on drug trafficking in the Campo de Gibraltar, according to sources in the Andalusian government.

The date for the meeting has not yet been set, but in it Díaz hopes to put politics aside and present a united front in the fight against traffickers, in much the same way as the recent storm damage to the Huelva coast was tackled across party lines.

The Andalusian president considers that it is necessary to face up to the growing problem with determination, but that this is only possible through cooperation.

Following the case of a gang attacking a hospital in La Línea de la Concepción in February to free a suspected trafficker from National Police custody, Susana Díaz demanded that the central government make an even greater effort in order to fight the escalation of criminal activity.
