The mayor of Estepona has said that by the end of February the outer frame and main service ducts into the town's new hospital will be ready.
He has added that so far two million of the 15 million euros promised by the council has been handed over.
Councillors reached a funding deal with the Junta de Andalucía regional government, which normally builds and runs hospitals, in order to speed up construction.
Completion of the 14,300 square-metre building is still on track for the end of this year, they say.
