Councillor for Street Cleansing in Marbella, Diego López has unveiled the new, larger litter bins that the council has bought.
In total 350 have been acquired and they will be installed in the busiest areas, including Puerto Banús and the Old Town. López said that the smaller, current bins, with a capacity of 30 litres of rubbish, have to be emptied up to four times a day and fill up quickly in high season, causing litter to build up on the street.
In contrast, the new bins have a capacity of 120 litres. He explained that the new containers are “more accessible, hygienic and easier to use”.
