Portuguese guitarist wins Andrés Segovia competition

24-year-old Joaquim Santos Simöes from Coimbra, Portugal won first prize at the 33rd Andrés Segovia International Guitar Competition held in La Herradura last week.

Santos Simöes won 10,000 euros and a professional standard guitar made with materials from Canada and Madagascar by the Granada luthier, Aarón García Ruiz.

The winner will go on to perform at the Úbeda 2018 international music and dance festival.
