The landscaping of the new pedestrian area in the centre of Torremolinos is currently ahead of schedule and the first stage, which began on January 8, is set to meet the May deadline, municipal workers confirmed this week.

The first stage began in the Avenida Palma de Mallorca and saw the installation of new underground infrastructure, and municipal workers have now reached the junction of Avenida Isabel Manoja and Calle Cauce. This week work also began in Calle La Cruz at the opposite end of the main square.

During an inspection of the work, mayor of Torremolinos, José Ortiz, met with local traders to ensure that the work is not preventing normal commercial activity. The pavements have been unaffected at this stage, and the town hall reported that there have been no major problems so far.

“The work is moving forward at great speed and therefore our deadlines will be met,” the mayor explained.
