Double the value of building licences given out in 2017 than 2016, says Marbella town hall

  • Officials claim an effort to cut bureaucracy and following a master plan have been behind the increase

The department for Town Planning at Marbella town hall has said that it awarded building licences to applicants covering investment projects with budgets of almost 159 million euros last year.

This is more than double the 2016 figure of just over 75 million euros.

The council said that the rate of investment in construction increased most from September, shortly after a PP-led administration took over running the town hall from a PSOE-led coalition.

It added that clarification of the town's temporary master town plan and an effort to cut bureaucracy have been behind the increase.

The PSOE replied that they were responsible for putting the improvements in place instead, prior to leaving power.
