Could there be snow on the Costa del Sol? It certainly seemed that way in an image that went viral on social media on Monday, showing the beach in Fuengirola covered in a blanket of white.
However, it has since been proved that this unusual image was as a result of an intense hailstorm which struck the resort. This was confirmed by Aemet, the Spanish met office, which confirmed that conditions were all wrong for snow to have fallen.
The beach didn't stay like this for long. Despite temperatures of just 5ºC, the mercury quickly rose again and the hail melted.
