Torremolinos town hall has begun work on the pedestrianisation of the Plaza Costa del Sol and the centre of Torremolinos. The work will be carried out in two phases. The first phase - due to be finished by May - will focus on the renovation and expansion of infrastructure and utility networks. The second phase, which should be complete by the end of the year, will see the installation of a central pergola and the complete transformation of the Plaza Costa del Sol.

The project covers an area of over 10,000 square metres. Work has begun in the Avenida Palma de Mallorca and will progress towards the Plaza Costa del Sol, creating a grand central boulevard.

Although the alterations will cause some disruptions in the town, the work will not obstruct access to local businesses.

In conjunction with the transformation of the town centre, renovation work has also begun on the Cuesta del Tajo and Calle Peligro, the streets that link Torremolinos with the Bajondillo beach.

This work is due to be complete before the summer season gets under way.
