The mayor of Benalmádena is to appeal a court order to demolish an aparthotel next to Torremuelle train station. The court has said that the property was built based on an illegal planning decision by then mayor, Enrique Bolín, back in 2001.

Current town mayor, Victor Navas, has said that, while he doesn't condone the illegal planning permission, he will do all he can to avoid the council having to pay out compensation of an estimated four to five million euros to the owners.
