The rebuilding work to better link Marbella's central Puerto Deportivo marina to the town centre has begun. Construction company VGL Global SL was chosen out of 20 that tendered to carry out the work, which will cost 143,985 euros.

The work aims to make the seafront more accessible to pedestrians and stimulate business activity.

A 1,400-metre-square plaza will be created and some car parking spaces around the port will have to be moved.

Construction began on Tuesday and it's estimated that it will take two months to complete.
