Muscatel raisin given FAO Heritage status

The announcement means “more security” for the sector and for the people of the Axarquía

The scientific committee of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations has announced that the muscatel grape has been added to the world agricultural heritage list.

This came after a process which saw representatives from the FAO in the Axarquía just a week before the decision was made in Rome on Thursday 26 November.

Rodrigo Sánchez, Agriculture and Fisheries representative for the Junta de Andalucía, said that the announcement means more security for the sector and for the people of the Axarquía.
