Local hospitals continue to feature in an annual national survey of the best healthcare facilities in the country.
In the MRS list of the top 75 public hospitals, the Hospital Regional in Malaga (also known as Carlos Haya) was ranked 22nd this year, while the nearby Hospital Clínico was placed in 34th spot.
Among the top ten public hospitals in Spain, eight are in Madrid and Barcelona and the other two in Seville and Valencia.
The ranking of private hospitals covers only the top 25 and Quirón Salud Málaga has come in tenth position.
All three local hospitals fell slightly in the rankings when compared to last year.
This is the fourth time this survey has been carried out and it collates the opinions of 3,200 experts, including doctors, nursing staff and patients.
In terms of specialist departments analysed in the study, Carlos Haya was in the top 15 for Psychiatry, Renal Medicine and Endocrinology.
