Christmas campaign aims to support local business in Cártama

  • The main objective of the initiative is to encourage residents to do their Christmas shopping locally, instead of visiting the hypermarkets and shopping centres

Cártama town hall has begun a Christmas shopping campaign to boost local business activity in the town. The main objective of the initiative is to encourage residents to do their Christmas shopping locally, instead of visiting the hypermarkets and shopping centres.

The campaign will continue until January 5 and more than 130 shops, restaurants and other local businesses are participating.

Shops and offices are encouraged to decorate their establishments in order to generate a festive atmosphere during the Christmas period and the campaign will include a competition, where prizes will be awarded for the best window display.

Restaurants, cafes and bars are encouraged to offer seasonal menus and cocktails, while the shops will give special discounts on certain items throughout the campaign. There will also be free parking available.

A voucher will be awarded for every purchase or consumption over 15 euros and this will be entered in a prize draw, which will take place on January 12.

The more than 150 prizes include weekend breaks, gift vouchers, food and wine hampers, clothing, sports equipment and other goods donated by the participating establishments.

Customers must attach their receipt to the voucher and deposit it in the special boxes situated in the town hall and other locations.

The Mayor of Cártama has endorsed the campaign, saying, “We encourage residents and neighbours do their Christmas shopping in Cártama, because this will reactivate the business fabric and support job creation.”
