Vélez-Málaga town hall has released images of how the town's centre will look once the proposed pedestrianisation project is complete. The pictures were shown to local business associations during a meeting last Friday.

Images show the existing Plaza de las Carmelitas in front of the town hall being extended into what is currently a one-way road which cuts through the town's main shopping streets.

Concern was shown at the meeting among business owners who claim that the project would reduce the number of parking spaces outside shops and other premises and put pressure on the council to factor in more parking spaces to the project. Work is set to start in 2018 with a 884,000 euro budget.
