The Guardia Civil are hunting two hooded men who violently attacked a 70-year-old man in his home before making off with a car, jewellery and money.
The horrific incident occurred in the rural area of La Morea, to the south of Frigiliana village and next to the Los Cortijos de San Rafael housing development.
In the attack the robbers reportedly bound and gagged the man before hitting him with the butt of a gun. He later managed to free himself and alert the Guardia Civil.
The victim has said that the thieves took a high-end Volkswagen Touareg, 300 euros in cash, two luxury watches, a collection of antique coins and jewellery including gold rings.
It seems that the man could have known his attackers or some youths that were friends with them. According to the description that he provided, the assailants were two men in their thirties and from Malaga province.
Second time in a month
This is the second time that the same man has reported a violent assault and robbery to the Guardia Civil in the space of a month, it was said.
A neighbour in the area told SUR that the victim “mixes with young men from the coast who he invites to his rural property for parties”.
“More than once I've had problems with him as they come on to my farm and his dogs destroy everything. Some years ago he reported me to police because he claimed that a few of us locals had beaten him up,” the neighbour claimed.
