Andalucía's top court has temporarily suspended the cancellation of the concession to run La Bajadilla port, to the east of Marbella old town. The concession to exploit the facility has been in the hands of a company owned by Sheikh Al-Thani since 2011. Al-Thani also owns Málaga CF.

However, last year, the contract was cancelled after the company, NAS Marbella SL, had failed to pay annual licence fees and invest promised millions. Local officials had been waiting for a huge redevelopment to be carried out by Al-Thani's company.

The court is now considering Al-Thani's appeal and in the meantime a tendering process for new operators has to be put on hold.
