A 41-year-old British man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery on the reception of an unnamed Mijas Pueblo hotel at the end of August.
The attacker hid his face with a Darth Vader mask before threatening staff and making off with 1,500 euros in cash.
Police named the investigation to find the culprit 'Operation Vader 2017' and carried out a reconstruction of the crime.
As part of their investigations they realised that the attacker was the same person who had tried to rob a holiday let two hours earlier on the same day using a fake Interpol jacket instead. In that robbery he fled the scene when the occupants barricaded the door.
After studying local CCTV footage, the man was arrested and, police say, the firearm used in the robberies was found at his home. The accused is already known to police.
