Airlines across Europe cancelled flights this week following a general strike carried out by air traffic controllers in France on Tuesday. Ryanair cancelled 222 flights in the last two days, more than any other airline, leaving approximately 40,000 passengers stranded without a flight. 58 of the 222 cancelled Ryanair flights have destination or origin in Spain. Easyjet released a statement earlier this week acknowledging the disruptions, We are still seeing an impact to flights today including delays and cancellations as a result of yesterday's French National strike.

The strike has affected all flights travelling over French airspace, many have been diverted around France leading to extended journey times. British airports such as London Stansted, Bristol and Luton were particularly badly affected.
