Technicians from the municipal parks and gardens department in Torremolinos will, in the coming days, start injecting the trunks of pine trees with a special substance to combat the plague of processionary caterpillars, made worse recently by the lack of rain.

They will use a combination of alcohol and abamectin (an insecticide) to combat these pests which can be dangerous if they come into contact with small children, or fatal in the case of dogs. Owners of pine trees on private land are being urged to do the same.
