Road improvements on the A-377, which links Manilva and Gaucín, are 90 per cent complete and will be finished by the end of October, ahead of schedule.
The announcement came from the regional government's director general for Infrastructure, Jesús Huertas, who visited the works last Friday.
The entire project has cost 4.34 million euros and involved improvements and resurfacing on 26.6 kilometres of the 29-kilometre road.
Work began at the end of January and was divided into three sections. Huerta said last week that work had now started on the final phase of the scheme, which includes the first two-kilometre stretch from Sabinillas, culminating in the painting of road markings, among other work.
The road is used by 1,600 vehicles every day and is the main route linking the Genal valley area, south of the Serranía de Ronda, and the Costa del Sol, mainly affecting Manilva, Casares and Gaucín.
