Two wildfires that broke out in Mijas and Benahavís on Sunday were brought under control thanks to the deployment of 120 firefighters at the scenes.
No homes had to be evacuated but both the A-397, that links San Pedro and Ronda, and the A-368 through Mijas, were closed to traffic as a preventative measure.
The rugged terrain complicated firefighting efforts in Benahavís, where the blaze broke out in La Zagaleta at midday.
The Mijas fire appears to have been caused by a vehicle in the El Higuerón area near the Mijas exit from the A-7, and spread to the mountains closed to the Buena Vista residential area.
