The ex-mayor of Mijas, Ángel Nozal, and leader of the PP group on the council is to be quizzed by an investigating judge.
The formal interview will take place on 5 October and is in connection with the supposed offer of a job at Club la Costa resort to local Podemos-CSSP councillor Francisco Martínez.
The offer was reportedly made in a secret meeting between Nozal, Santiago Martín (another PP councilor) and Martínez, in which the PP representatives asked, among other things, for the rival councillor’s support in a no confidence vote against current mayor Juan Carlos Maldonado.
The meeting was taped by Martínez and news of it first published in SUR four months ago. Santiago Martín will also be called to give his version of events.
Nozal is also currently under investigation over suspected links to three other corruption and irregularity investigations from his time at the helm of Mijas.
