The Guardia Civil are inviestigating the deaths of a British couple whose bodies were found on Thursday afternoon inside their Manilva home. The man was 71 and the woman 80.
The discovery was made after the couple's son who lives in the UK had conctated a neighbour as he had heard nothing from his parents in several days.
When they entered the apartment in Avenida de la Paz Guardia Civil officers found the bodies in separate rooms, in an advanced stage of decomposition. It is thought that they had been dead for more than ten days.
The woman's body was found in the bedroom lying face down on the floor. Her husband was discovered near the sofa in the living room, according to sources.
During an initial inspection of the scene no signs of violence were detected, nor other evidence of the cause of death.
The apartment was locked from the inside, initially indicating that no third party was involved, although an inquiry is under way. The Guardia Civil have not ruled out any hypothesis regarding the cause of death.
Autopsy examinations were due to be carried out on Friday.
