Sixty-eight families in Torremolinos benefit from economic aid programme

  • The scheme offers cash or supplementary benefits to families who cannot sufficiently provide for themselves

The social services department of the Torremolinos town hall has helped a total of 68 underprivileged families with the Programa de Ayudas Familiares.

The family economic aid programme, which is conducted by the Junta de Andalucía, offers cash or supplementary benefits to families who cannot sufficiently provide for themselves.

The programme supplies food, clothes, footwear and products for personal and domestic hygiene. Prescription medications, access to educational resources, transport costs, help with electricity and water and aid for rental housing is also available.

Benefits were distributed between single-parent families, families with members with disabilities and families that live below the accepted poverty line.

Councillor for Social Services, Pedro Pérez, said: “Family economic support is granted to families for the care of their basic needs when they lack sufficient resources to help themselves.”
