Forest fire risk level raised to “extreme” across the region

  • Spain’s meteorological agency, Aemet, has raised its risk level in many provinces across the south and south-east

High temperatures and a relative humidity that at certain times has fallen below 45 per cent are just two of the factors which have forced Aemet, the state meteorological agency, to increase its official risk level of forest fires to “extreme” across many parts of the country.

Malaga province was placed at this level on Monday, as well as several others in the south-east and north of the peninsular, coinciding with a fire that that was declared in the Maqueda area, close to Campanillas at around 5.10pm.

The warning for Malaga was expected to stay in place until Tuesday but was extended until Thursda
