Organisers of Torre del Mars increasingly popular Weekend Beach Festival announced last week that this years event has almost sold out.
With just under two months remaining before it gets underway, 85 per cent of the full weekend tickets have been sold as well as 90 per cent of tickets that include camping.
Since the first event in July 2014, the Weekend Beach has managed to position itself as one of Spains most anticipated summer music events, attracting visitors from all over the country and beyond.
Weekers, the name given to festival-goers, pitch their tents on land behind the three-stage festival ground and the whole area is located just behind the towns beach, to the west behind the fashionable Bahía de Tanit, Berebere and Café del Mar beach bars.
The proximity of the beach, along with a Mercadona on the doorstep or in this case, tent peg, and the convenience of Torre del Mar as a small town with a seemingly endless number of bars and restaurants adds to the appeal.
The festival has in the last three years been extremely well-organised and had a relaxed feel to it. Local police, the town hall and organisers have cooperated to ensure safety yet maintained a relatively low profile. Even the prohibition of the botellón, drinking alcohol on the beach or in the street, seems to be relaxed for the duration of the festival which this year will take place from Wednesday 5 until Sunday 9 July.
A special form must be completed for anyone under the age of 18 attending, if they are accompanied by an adult. Further information including the under-18s form, full line up and ticket sales can be found on the festival website, www.weekendbeach.es.
