Work has started on opening up an 11-kilometre-long path stretching from Torremolinos’ seafront through the town and into the mountains behind. The Diputación provincial authority is funding the work.
The path, which will also allow bikes and horses on some of the route, will be called ‘Camino del Agua’ - the water route. It aims to link the Diputación’s Senda Litoral (long-distance coastal path) with the Gran Senda, a circular route through Malaga province.
The cross-town route will be finished in June and the whole hike into the hills will take about four and a half hours to complete.
An outdoor exhibition in Plaza Costa del Sol explains the project.
