The authorities believe that the remains could have been in the pit they were found in for as long as ten years.
Others believe that the owners of packs of dogs used for hunting could have been responsible, after the Guardia Civil found many hunting dogs kept in appalling conditions in Torremolinos in recent years. However nothing has yet been confirmed by local police.
