Spain's meteorology office Aemet raised its severe weather warning from yellow to amber on Friday morning due to the heavy rainfall expected throughout the day in the province of Malaga.
The areas expected to be most affected are the Costa del Sol, especially west of Faro de Calaburros, and the Guadalhorce valley.
Early on Friday morning rainfall measuring 90 millimetres was recorded in Casarabonela.
The wet weather is expected to continue throughout Friday and Saturday.
