Adrián Martín, the young singer from Vélez-Málaga who was born with hydrocephalus, is to appear with Basque musician Tontxu at a presentation in the Maristas school in Malaga on 2 May of a CD and book aimed at raising awareness of and improving education in Africa. Adrián and Tontxu sing the poem ‘Invictus’ on the CD.
Written in 1875 by English poet, William Ernest Henmley (1849-1903), it was the poem which inspired Nelson Mandela during his 27 years in prison on Robben Island. Behind the CD is Spanish missionary, Aurelino García, who spent nine years in Ghana and through the CD, wanted to “break the stereotypes” that “Africa has been given in the last few years”.
The CD, ‘Los Tambores Hablan’ (the drums speak) is available via the website of Spanish NGO, SED, and costs 15 euros.
