Summer looks bright for hotels after record number of tourists visited at Easter

  • 90 per cent of hotel beds were occupied in the capital, a record figure for Malaga city during Holy Week

The Association of Costa del Sol hotels (Aehcos) revealed on Monday that Holy Week and Easter weekend saw a record number of tourists visit the coast for this time of year, which they believe bodes well for the summer period.

The attraction of Malaga city was evident in the fact that 90 per cent of hotel beds were occupied in the capital, which city mayor, Francisco de la Torre, confirmed was the highest figure recorded for Semana Santa of all time. In fact, a 10 per cent increase in business generated by the service sector was recorded as tourists took full advantage of the unseasonably good weather by going to the beach, watching the processions and sampling the nightlife.
