A 44-year-old driver damaged bollards and parked cars after invading a pedestrianised street in the Torre del Mar area in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The woman, who had a alcohol level of more than 0.4 milligrams per litre of air, drove a luxury car 200 metres as the crow flies through various pedestrianised streets, and caused damage to half a dozen bollards in addition to two parked cars and the vehicle she was driving.

The driver ended up crashing the car into the front of a building, an accident which resulted in her and the other passenger in the car suffering injuries of varying degrees of seriousness. The woman is quoted as saying that the car was automatic and that she didn't know how to drive it.

Last week was an extremely tragic week on the streets of Vélez-Malaga, with the deaths of a 29 year-old motorcyclist and a 40-year-old pedestrian, in addition to a serious injury suffered by a 45-year-old pedestrian, all coming from road accidents in the municipality.
