Kuwaiti chain Costa del Sol Hotels has opened a new boutique hotel in Torremolinos which caters for the Arab market. The establishment, just three hundred metres from the beach, has 36 rooms.

Named Costa del Sol Torremolinos Boutique Hotel, this is the group's first in Spain and will be only the second in the country to carry the Halal Quality Assurance Seal created by the Muslim Council of Spain (the other is in Marbella).

This means that the hotel is able to offer services specifically catering for Muslim clientele, including strict control over the catering, strictly eliminating all traces of pork product, even in pastries and dressings.

The hotel can also provide guests with prayer mats and rooms facing Mecca if they request them.

Run by Julio García and located on the Paseo Colorado in the Playamar area, the hotel is already open to the public, despite the official inauguration not being planned to take place until 11 May.

The hotel also has a heated outdoor pool open all year, a jacuzzi, free wifi throughout, a gym, a panoramic 'chillout' terrace, café, restaurant and a car park.

In its efforts to be green, the chain is working towards Breeam (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology) certification which will see the hotel's sustainability recognised on an international level, and it is the first in Andalucía to do so.
