A lorry driver had to be rescued from his vehicle after it overturned on the beach near La Cala de Mijas early on Wednesday morning.
The lorry veered off the A-7 at kilometre 202 for an unknown reason and ended up on the beach. The vehicle was carrying a load of watermelons, which were scattered onto the beach as a result of the accident.
Firemen, the Guardia Civil and paramedics were soon on the scene to help free the trapped 27-year-old driver, who was transported to the Costa del Sol Hospital in Marbella with minor injuries.
The right-hand lane of the Malaga-bound carriageway of the A-7 was temporarily closed as a result of the accident, before opening again shortly before 8am.
